About Me

I am on a journey with my Mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. I am learning to be her caregiver and as I walk in this path, I am gleaning the knowledge of this debilitating disease that robs the mind of intellect and sense. As I gather up the colors of my life I am finding the time to give to myself as well through my journey of art works. It's my escape from the real world of worries and struggle and strife. My refuge is on the blank pages filled with my spirit of energy of thoughts and emotions of the days. I'm a Libra according to the stars of the universe. I'm a daughter, a wife to James, who tolerates my need of balance and creativity, sister, mother to two awesome sons, Jeremy and Jason as well as I'm a grandmother of four precious blessings. A devoted pet owner of D.O.G., my bearded collie mix pound puppy who thinks he's human and if he had thumbs, he'd be earning his room and board.

Inspiration With Lots of Pondering Dancing Around

As some of you may know I did the Sketchbook Project for the Art House Co-op last year.  After spending 3 months dedicating the time to complete this project I decided to challenge myself to dig deeper and find my MUSE and get to know her like I did back in my youthful days of adventure and living a spontaneous life, before I became a grandmother, caregiver and overseer of family needs.

So I was led to a group of creative artists through their own personal blogs and found myself joining The Sketchbook Challenge which is prompted monthly.  My  MUSE awakened from her slumber.  I could tell she was a feeling a bit rusty and intimidated at first, but she persevered and overcame those nuisances quickly as soon as I picked up the first color on the paint brush. This month's prompt was "Highly Prized".  Absorbing and pondering over these words of course I think of my family.

I had just decorated a shoe box for "Nana's Treasures"(that's me) to put mementos and bits of this and that for my grandchildren to rummage through someday and used that as the example for my first piece.  It's not the greatest sketch but that's okay and I can always add more detail and pretty it up it later if I want.

Then I decided to push a bit harder, in a gentle way, and I joined the inspirational group of Milliande's Art Community for Women shortly there after.  It's an open invitation to both of these creative groups and feel free to jump in, yes, even now. You can click the icons on the left hand side of my pages and just drool and be inspired and surrounded by the creative ladies of both of these groups.

I must say that I haven't been this inspired by such an awesome teacher and the creative souls that are connected to her wonderful group in a very long time.  She provides a daily video of her prompt and then we go venture off to play and submit our interpretation to the site.
For instance here is a video of Milliande doing her prompt of Favorite Number:

And here is my submission of Favorite Number:
ZERO because of the unity it represents, beginning, end, even, wholeness, complete, relationship within our world of shapes even. I like ZERO. <---that's the dancing with the MUSE I was doing before I touched a color or brush.

No time table on submissions and you're FREE to do them when you please and submit them all or none if you wish.  I think we're into day 19 and I'm behind a bit but that's what is so nice...I have time to "dance" with it, ponder over the prompt and gather up my crayons and begin when I'm ready.  The same way with the first group as you have all month to do or wait and join in later on in the year if you wish.  Both sites are FREE! Yes! FREE! I LOVE FREE!

So I have been busy this month being entertained and aMUSEd to say the least. I hope you join us and find your MUSE.

Have a wonderful rest of the week....I'm off to go play again.
