About Me

I am on a journey with my Mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. I am learning to be her caregiver and as I walk in this path, I am gleaning the knowledge of this debilitating disease that robs the mind of intellect and sense. As I gather up the colors of my life I am finding the time to give to myself as well through my journey of art works. It's my escape from the real world of worries and struggle and strife. My refuge is on the blank pages filled with my spirit of energy of thoughts and emotions of the days. I'm a Libra according to the stars of the universe. I'm a daughter, a wife to James, who tolerates my need of balance and creativity, sister, mother to two awesome sons, Jeremy and Jason as well as I'm a grandmother of four precious blessings. A devoted pet owner of D.O.G., my bearded collie mix pound puppy who thinks he's human and if he had thumbs, he'd be earning his room and board.

Black and White Pages

I noticed viewing my sketchbook that I do have several sketches in black and white.

My sister and I call this "The UGLY Lamp". She even asked me why in the world I would even sketch such a thing and I told her it was because it was sitting in front of me while I had a pencil and piece of paper in my lap.  So, why not? Sheeeeesh, viewing now I see I really need to work on my dimensions and draping.  Note to self: lopsided lamps are even worse than UGLY lamps.

Okay, so maybe one should not draw after consuming a few long necks? That is James' cowboy hat and my beverage.  Note to self: put all pencils and paper away before consumption of long necks or any other adult beverage.

I'm not sure why this one came out a funky yellowish color but it truly isn't.  Must have changed my setting on my camera.  It's a black and white acrylic piece cut from the following picture.  I'm always amazed how many individual pictures you can get from just one piece.

I had to cut the bottom of this piece to get it to fit into the sketchbook so that is how I got the previous picture which is turned on it's side so it looks like water with light shimmering on it.  This is done with acrylic on drawing paper using the glass technique.

My dearest Dad in his early years in service during the Korean War. Graphite on paper.  I miss you daddy.

Charcoal on parchment of the awesome D.O.G. without his neckerchief and he would be so embarrassed if he new I had sketched him with out it!!!  He really does have a smile on his face.

A graphite tree using cross hatching technique and shading.  This is not a tree that exists anywhere near these parts of the woods, but to me looks like something that belongs in a fairy tale book.  Hmmmm....pondering.....

Okay, obviously I didn't paint this, but I did color it and painted the pink edging. This piece is done using Wordle (Google the word, Wordle, and have fun with this tool).  I have used this tool for several art decoupage projects around the house and now have it bookmarked as I visit it regularly.

Let me take this opportunity to wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!! Thanks so much for visiting my blog of doodles.
Blessings to all,
