About Me

My photo
Third Rock from the Sun, Tennessee, United States
I am on a journey with my Mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. I am learning to be her caregiver and as I walk in this path, I am gleaning the knowledge of this debilitating disease that robs the mind of intellect and sense. As I gather up the colors of my life I am finding the time to give to myself as well through my journey of art works. It's my escape from the real world of worries and struggle and strife. My refuge is on the blank pages filled with my spirit of energy of thoughts and emotions of the days. I'm a Libra according to the stars of the universe. I'm a daughter, a wife to James, who tolerates my need of balance and creativity, sister, mother to two awesome sons, Jeremy and Jason as well as I'm a grandmother of four precious blessings. A devoted pet owner of D.O.G., my bearded collie mix pound puppy who thinks he's human and if he had thumbs, he'd be earning his room and board.

3-D and Manipulation of Creative Wanderings

So I thought I would share my more creative thoughts of my sketchbook today.  When these images come into my JuNk DrAwEr mind, it's best to take it out on paper for me.  It also works out the stress and distress of life's woes.
This particular page took me several days using scrap paper to figure out the cuts and folds in which I wanted the painted piece to reflect on the background painting.  I have to admit, the photo isn't very good be it my camera, (which all the photos have been taken with a Nikon Coolpix digital camera) or the artist, I struggle with both.  This page is in the center of the sketchbook.  I was curious as to how much thickness it would add to the dimension of pages once the project was complete.  By the way, the center is of a flower.

HA!!! Got it right the first time! The laying out of the lettering is what gave me a challenge as well as inspiration.  The rest was just a Go-With-The-Flow feeling.

This page is sort of an interaction type of creative thought for the viewer.  The piece is cut into sections and then folded within to create several different "pictures" as you unfold and refold.  I admit this is a different technique for me and I think if I should ever do this particular composition again, I would put a bit more thought into the layout.  It has a lot of potential in becoming something more reflective of my inspirations.

Thanks for dropping by and viewing more of my sketchbook. Have a wonderful day!
