About Me

I am on a journey with my Mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. I am learning to be her caregiver and as I walk in this path, I am gleaning the knowledge of this debilitating disease that robs the mind of intellect and sense. As I gather up the colors of my life I am finding the time to give to myself as well through my journey of art works. It's my escape from the real world of worries and struggle and strife. My refuge is on the blank pages filled with my spirit of energy of thoughts and emotions of the days. I'm a Libra according to the stars of the universe. I'm a daughter, a wife to James, who tolerates my need of balance and creativity, sister, mother to two awesome sons, Jeremy and Jason as well as I'm a grandmother of four precious blessings. A devoted pet owner of D.O.G., my bearded collie mix pound puppy who thinks he's human and if he had thumbs, he'd be earning his room and board.

Start BIG and Let the Flow of Colors Begin

Well, I have had this huge sketchbook of paper sitting around for ages and I've fiddled with a few pages in it doing various things of planning and jotting down notes.  Then that nudge of a voice deep down inside of me hollers at my brain...."USE IT UP! all of it! not just bits of pieces.  Use the whole page. Stop limiting yourself to just "a section" here and there.  Spread those colors around and get it covered from one edge to the other."

Now mind you, this sketchbook is not your typical pocket sized journal with manageable pages of 5"x8". It's 14"x17" and it takes up half of my card table that I work on to do my messy projects or doodlin'.   It's not my preferred weight of paper either, as it's only 60 lbs, but I will make it work because it's all that have available to me at this moment in time and this MONSTER has been trying to get my attention for a very long time soooooooooo....here I go.

Open the book and get started.......so I did.

Conglomeration of a collage "wannabe" to warm up the emptiness.

So I dig into my boxes of scrap paper treasures, glue and get out my pens of many colors and begin.  Not what I had hoped for, but now that it's done, I can keep on moving forward and we'll see how the end pages of this MONSTER Journal compares with the beginning page.
