About Me

I am on a journey with my Mother who is afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. I am learning to be her caregiver and as I walk in this path, I am gleaning the knowledge of this debilitating disease that robs the mind of intellect and sense. As I gather up the colors of my life I am finding the time to give to myself as well through my journey of art works. It's my escape from the real world of worries and struggle and strife. My refuge is on the blank pages filled with my spirit of energy of thoughts and emotions of the days. I'm a Libra according to the stars of the universe. I'm a daughter, a wife to James, who tolerates my need of balance and creativity, sister, mother to two awesome sons, Jeremy and Jason as well as I'm a grandmother of four precious blessings. A devoted pet owner of D.O.G., my bearded collie mix pound puppy who thinks he's human and if he had thumbs, he'd be earning his room and board.

Sketchbook Project in Progress

I have leaped out of a comfort zone to dive into my neglected art journey.  It's been a very long time since I've had such a focus and stuck with any type of art project due to life's tilt-a-world of changes.  I'm finding out through the changing events in my life, my view and thoughts of art are evolving and I am craving to devour all that I can find through various mediums and styles.  I enjoy so much viewing other artist's works and venues.  I guess I collect the energy in which they share in their own work.  My mind is truly filled with collective energy that fills up quickly and then I just have to grab a pen, pencil or paint brush and start cleaning out the JuNk DrAwEr...again.

I decided to join the Sketchbook Project as a birthday gift to myself. During this adventure I have noticed that while I have some formal background in the study of advertising art, many, many years ago, I am enjoying more of the graphic styles and conglomerations of different techniques.  Funny, I always thought I was a "Fine Artist" in training, but I see now, that to me is definitely not what I can do.  So if I'm asked, "What type of artist are you?" I will simply say, "An evolving one."

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

I am excited about this tour of many sketchbooks and  I hope to connect with like minds such as myself. I will be sharing pages from my sketchbook in following blogs as they evolve and are completed.

  1. I love your answer to the "what kind of artist are you"... I've always considered myself an evolving person, so I can relate. Congrats on participating in the Sketchbook Project... I didn't have enough guts to go for it... maybe another project another time.

  2. I am so honored to have you visit my page and I welcome you as you've been an inspiration for me. I invite you visit again when I get my act together on this blog of scribbles and doodles. Thanks for your kind words. As for the project, I'm dedicating this "doodle-book" to my grandchildren. It has been a real ice breaker for me in finding my passion again.
